Privacy Policy for Volario
Effective Date: [March 12 2026]
This Privacy Policy explains how Maurus Kienmoser ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Volario mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to minimalism in data collection: we do not show ads, we do not sell your data, and we do not use third-party tracking analytics.
1. Information We Collect and How We Use It
To provide you with paragliding navigation and flight recording, we collect the minimum necessary data:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a chosen username. This is necessary to authenticate you and manage your subscription.
- Location Data (Foreground and Background): Volario requires access to your device's GPS data to provide in-flight navigation and record your flight paths. Crucially, we collect location data in the background only when you have actively started a flight recording, ensuring your track is saved even if your device screen turns off or you switch apps. This data is not used for advertising.
- Sensor and Bluetooth Data: The App accesses your device's internal sensors (like the barometer) and requests Bluetooth permissions to connect to external devices, such as external variometers. This data is processed locally to give you accurate flight readings.
- Payment Information: If you purchase a subscription, payments are processed securely by our third-party provider, RevenueCat. We do not process or store your credit card information. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous ID to verify your purchase status.
2. Third-Party Services and Data Transfers
We use strictly necessary third-party services to operate the App. These services act as Data Processors:
- Cloudflare: Used for secure data hosting and routing.
- RevenueCat: Used for managing in-app subscriptions.
Because these providers are headquartered in the United States, your data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA). We ensure these transfers are compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by relying on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and Data Processing Agreements provided by these vendors.
3. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your personal data only for as long as your account is active.
- Data Retention: Your email, username, and flight data are retained until you delete your account.
How to Delete Your Account and Data
You have the right to permanently delete your account and all associated personal data. You can do this in two ways:
- In-App: Open the Volario app, navigate to Settings, and select "Delete Account".
- Via Email: Send an email to info@volario.app from the email address associated with your account, requesting data deletion. We will process your request and permanently erase your data from our active servers within 30 days.
4. Your GDPR Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data (Right to be Forgotten).
- Withdraw your consent for location and Bluetooth access at any time via your device settings.
